Yard Update

It's finally feeling like June... occasionally. My flowers are blooming beautifully.

Another sure sign of summer is the sweet smell of the Russian Olive trees blooming. We have a stand of them across the alfalfa field from us and sometimes I get lightheaded from breathing it in too deeply.
My garden is coming along fine. Only my beets and lettuce mix came in all the way down the rows... the rest are a bit splotchy. The peas are getting big enough that I got out our old trellis and started training them up. I lost one tomato, most of my peppers, and my basil from the drenching rain last month. They didn't like sitting in water. On the other hand, I lost my cucumbers and a strawberry plant because they got too dry! I have to vigilant about checking the water situation every day.

My zucchini is doing well. The pumpkins and cantaloupe sprouted and pretty soon we will have vines taking over the garden! They will have to fight it out with the weeds. I need to buy a hoe.
