Chlorophyll Therapy

I hosted a little baby shower here recently and decided wheat grass was just the thing to bring the sensation of life to the spread.  I know I re-use my wheat grass idea every winter, but I just love having green in the kitchen during the throes of winter!

The best part is giving the grass a haircut. This is the second time we have had to butch it (we've had it for 2 weeks now) and it is still growing strong! The kids love to get out their scissors and plow into it.

Even my little guy enjoyed playing in the grass.

All neatly trimmed.

My next indoor display will be the bulbs I just brought in from cold storage in the garage. Remember when I planted them in the fall so they would have a long enough cold period? Well now they are ready so start forcing indoors! I will keep you apprised on their progress.

Chewy White Chocolate, Chocolate Cookies

I wish I had a picture of these divine morsels, but they got scarfed so fast I didn't have time to think about it. I have had this recipe for a few years, but forgot about it until yesterday when I was desperate for dessert and low on fancy ingredients. I love that it calls for basics, but makes something so delectable! Believe me, you won't be sad you tried it.

2 cups flour
1 cup dark cocoa powder
1 cup white sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 tsp. baking soda
1 cup butter
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
2 cups white chocolate chips (Note: I did not have these, but did have almond bark so I just chopped it up chunky!)

1
. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease cookie sheet.

2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar and white sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well with each addiction. Add the salt and vanilla.

3. In another bowl, combine the flour, cocoa and baking soda and gradually add to the creamed mixture. Fold in chocolate chips. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheet.

4. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until fluffy but still soft. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

Summer Wedding

It's hard to think about growing anything when it's -6 degrees outside. So instead I thought I would share some pictures from a wedding I did flowers for back in June.

The beautiful bride and groom wanted vibrant pink and green, with a little orange thrown in for fun.

The mother of the bride was my girls' camp co-conspirator, so we had just spent many, many hours together. The wedding was the week after camp, so it was fun for me to do something for her after she did so much for me!

I wish I had stunning pictures of the flowers, but I had just lent out my camera card and only had my phone to document the process.

We ordered tons of white hydrangea for the centerpieces, and roses and calla lilies as the color.

Lots of interesting things come in lime green. We tried bells of Ireland, hypericum berries, and buplerum.

I always like to start with the most important piece: the bridal bouquet. This was about halfway through!

The bridesmaid bouquets were made to match the bride on a smaller scale, sans orange.

The ice sculpture arrangement echoed the bride as well.

Mothers wore pink corsages.

A handful of pink callas made a statement for a side table.

The table centerpieces were white puff balls of flowers. These look a bit alien before they were places on the glass hurricanes with water and green petals floating in them. Again I wish I could show stunning photos of the reception, but I wasn't able to go because I was on the Young Women 4th year hike! I hear it was incredibly beautiful and I was honored to be a part of it.
